Tying a Quilt

There are three basic ways to finish a quilt:  hand quilting, machine quilting  and tying.  Tying sometimes has a bad reputation, but it is by far the fastest way to get the job done.

I have usually seen tying done using yarn or crochet thread and needles, and this method works very well, especially for “quilting bee” style group work. 

There is, however, another method that works well for individual quilters that are space challenged:  machine tying.  Have you heard of that before?  You might want to check out more information on both hand and machine tying here and here. 

I like the idea–no thread/yarn to ravel or come untied.  Doesn’t require a set of quilt frames.  Still very fast.  What do you think?
