No Recession for Handmade

Bobbi’s skirts were featured this morning in the local paper HERS section–see the cover here:

Yep, those are Bobbi’s skirts all right.

The article discusses the trend towards creating and purchasing handmade, citing examples from the Great Depression when cottage industry was the livelihood of many families.

We have experienced a surge of interest here in the shop, even with the Recession, in making and, in some cases, selling, handmade items.

On the Etsy site, a major market for handmade items, there is a community sectionwhere there are a lot of articles with thoughts about the pros and cons of starting your own business and things you might want to consider before making that decision.
